Last weekend we went to Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton. I was worried that there would be crowds of people, but apparently no one wants to go learn about trains on an overcast Saturday.

A couple of turkeys. |
The museum part is set up in what used to be a functioning railroad maintenance something or other (to be precise). People can walk into preserved cars and imagine what it would've been like to ride a train 200 years ago.
Although we didn't go on an old timey train ride, we took a shop tour for a "behind the scenes" glimpse of the maintenance and renovation of the trains at Steamtown.

You said it, random filing cabinet. |
Okay, so the shop tour was over an hour long and not interesting unless you are obsessed with trains. The volunteer leading the tour used to be a train mechanic, so he really knew his stuff AND he liked to ramble.
After that, we wandered around the tracks of rusty old trains and took pictures.
